Glasgow weather update after Storm Alex brings flooding and disruption across Scotland

Scotland suffered a sustained period of heavy rain and flooding after Storm Alex arrived in Scotland in Saturday, causing traffic and travel chaos.

Although Glasgow took a soaking, the worst affected areas were in the north and east of Scotland with the Met Office issuing amber weather warnings.

Furthermore, Scotrail were yesterday evening forced to shut down trains early in the affected areas, with trains running to and from Glasgow Queen Street and Central stations disrupted.

On Saturday evening, West Central Scotland remained on flood alert, with warnings for drivers up and down the country.

However, despite the overnight rain, the wet weather is soon set to come to an end.

Met Office forecasters predict it will start to dry up in Glasgow around 12noon, with the chance of sunshine later on this Sunday.

And Monday is set to be similarly calm, giving time for Scotland to recover - warnings are in place for further disruption on road and rail this morning.
