Glasgow weather: Stay away from flooded banks of the River Clyde, city council warns

Glasgow City Council are warning Glaswegians to stay away from the River Clyde with the river having flooded at points in the city due to Storm Ciara.

The Clyde Walkway in Govan and under the George V Bridge in the city centre are submerged under water, with Renfrew Ferry services cancelled due to high tides.

And the inclement weather has saw the council issue a tweet reminding folk to avoid the area adjacent to the River until the tide has subsided.

The tweet reads: "We're aware tides are very high at the moment around the River Clyde with current high winds causing waves and flooding around the walkway.

"Please stay safe and off the riverside walkways until tide has subsided".

Meanwhile, Police Scotland have issued a travel warning for all local authorities in Scotland, for a high risk of disruption as a result of the high winds and snow.

They are advising drivers that the Met Office has issued weather warnings for wind and snow and that there is a high risk of disruption for road journeys throughout Scotland.
