Glasgow weather: Snow brings travel chaos with warning in place until Wednesday night

Glasgow has woken up to heavy snow with more on the way throughout the morning.

An amber weather warning for snow will remain in place until tonight with more expected to fall until 10am this morning.

A yellow warning is also in place until Wednesday night with frequent snow showers on the cards until then.

On the bright side, Glaswegians will have the whole afternoon to enjoy the weather with some winter sun on the forecast this afternoon before another bitterly cold evening sets in.

A warning for ice is also in place with residents urged to be cautious on untreated roads and surfaces.

Temperatures will be remaining low throughout the day around 0° so remember to wrap up warm if you’re heading out to enjoy the white stuff.

For anyone making essential journeys, ScotRail and First Bus have already given an update on how their services are running.

Major disruption is to be expected on most central belt routes to and from Glasgow Central and Queen Street.

First Bus have confirmed that they currently aren’t servicing Newton Mearns, Baillieston Terminus or Arden.

We’ll be keeping you updated throughout the day on our live weather blog so check back if you’re making any essential journeys.
