Glasgow weather: Snow and sleet predicted on Friday by BBC and Met Office

The Met Office and BBC Weather have forecast snow and sleet in Glasgow this Friday.

The city is set to turn significantly colder on Thursday, plummeting from a peak of 10 degrees Celsius in the afternoon to lows approaching freezing overnight.

According to the Met Office, Friday will start "colder with wintry showers" and "strong northwesterly winds".

The weather service predicts "light snow" at 6am, when temperatures are expected to be near-zero.

Its roundup for the day states that Glasgow will see "light snow changing to showers by late morning".

Meanwhile, BBC Weather predicts "sleet showers" on Friday, and hail showers for much of the afternoon.

The forecaster states on its website that "frequent wintry showers will move in from the north-west, which may fall as sleet and snow to lower levels at times".

At about 6pm, it expects "sleet showers" in the city — and around this time temperatures will begin to approach freezing temperatures again.

Overnight, things look set to warm up slightly and it looks to be a milder — but very wet — day in Glasgow on Friday.
