Glasgow weather: Snow amber warning for central belt as wintry showers expected throughout night

Glasgow could be waking up to snow tomorrow as another weather warning is in place for wintry showers.

Snow is predicted to hit the central belt between 3am and 9pm on Tuesday.

It comes as Storm Darcy - dubbed Beast from the East 2 - moves across the country bringing sub-zero temperatures with it.

A blast of freezing air from Russia and Eastern Europe has spawned the storm and triggered five days of weather warnings.

It's expected to be the coldest weather seen across the UK as a whole since the storm hit in February 2018.

As well the warnings for snow and ice, the Met Office has said wintry conditions will be particularly bad tomorrow morning causing snow build-ups.

Across the central belt, around five to 10cm of snow is expected to lie with higher areas to be particularly bad.

For anyone travelling for essential purposes, delays on roads are likely as well as disruption to train and air travel.

We reported how parts of the city have already seen snow flurries on Monday morning.
