Glasgow weather: possible thunderstorms and high temperatures for week ahead

Glasgow could witness thunderstorms this week according to forecasters as the city gets set for more warm summer weather.

The BBC suggests we may experience thunder and lightning on Wednesday afternoon into early evening, with temperatures set to peak at 20C.

Meanwhile, the Met Office is predicting a largely dry week in Glasgow, with only a short period of rain showers on both Wednesday and Thursday evening.

The rest of the week is forecast to be fairly dry and sunny with maximum temperatures ranging from 18C to 21C, and lows of 11C - 13C at night.

In the Met Office's weather forecast for the week ahead across Strathclyde, they say: "[On Monday], low cloud in Central Belt burning off in the morning then bright with warm sunshine.

"Some slow moving thundery showers developing in the afternoon especially in Lanarkshire and East Ayrshire. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

"[Tuesday to Thursday] risk of further thundery downpours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then bright with the odd lighter shower on Thursday."
