Glasgow weather: Partick transformed into Pyrenees as locals take to sledges on Gardner Street

If there's one place in Glasgow that locals are guaranteed to make the most of amid the snowy weather then that's Gardner Street in Partick.

With a gradient steep enough to make a snowmobile hesitate, cars were nowhere to be seen last night - allowing lucky locals to venture outside the tenements that line the iconic west end street to use the road as their own private ski slope.

A video sent to Glasgow Live showed one thrill-seeker take to a sledge to whizz down the street as the snow continued to blanket the city - with neighbours queuing up at the top to await their turn.

And it comes amid similar scenes across the city - including one instance which saw resident in the east end of the city capture one brave soul battle through blizzard conditions on Duke Street in the early hours of this morning.

It's not the first time the snowfall welcome images more akin to the Pyrenees than Partick, with a resident treated to the sight of one daredevil taking advantage of the big freeze back in March of 2018 to launch themselves down the street in a snowboard.

As you might have expected, the brilliant footage went viral after being shared on a local Partick community Facebook page.

As for those who live on Gardner Street taking to their 'slope' - we are a wee bit jealous of what you have on your doorstep! Although on the flipside we don't expect it to be a lot of fun trying to walk up it with your messages. Swings and roundabouts we suppose!
