Glasgow weather: Mini heatwave forecast for next week as temperature to hit 24C

The past couple of weeks have delivered one of the wettest, grimmest summers we can remember - even by Scottish standards.

If you cast your mind back to July, you'll remember we were basking in sunshine and scorching temperatures that were touching 30C.

Unfortunately, that was all washed away by the thunderstorms, seemingly endless rain and even flooding.

So we're sure the news that the warm weather is finally making a return will be welcomed with open arms.

Next week is set to be much warmer and drier, with temperatures reaching a high of 24C on Wednesday, with the sun also making much more of an appearance.

The Met Office is predicting "a dry and very warm few days with some good spells of sunshine. Overnight low cloud burning off although some may linger along the Argyll coast."

Tomorrow will also deliver a warm day with temperatures of around 22C, although it won't be quite as sunny, with the Met Office predictions with the forecast for "cloudy to sunny intervals by early evening".

So it looks like it'll finally be time to look out your shorts and T-shirts again and maybe even (touch wood) put away the waterproofs...
