Glasgow weather: Met Office yellow warning issued for ice

A yellow weather alert for ice is in force across greater Glasgow.

The Met Office warning was issued for midnight last night and will be in place until 10am this morning.

The city is set to face wintry showers and bitterly cold temperatures of around 4C today – meaning road conditions may be treacherous.

Here's what to expect:

- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces

- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

- Some roads and railways may be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

You can keep up to date with the latest forecasts at the Met Office website.

In tonight's forecast, there is a risk of overnight snow for the Lanarkshire region, with thermometers plunging to -1 °C. The Met Office warns this could lead to further travel issues tomorrow morning.

The wintry showers are then set to dry up, with cloud and light rain forecast for later on in the morning.
