Glasgow weather - Met Office warning in place for thunderstorms today

A yellow Met Office weather warning is in place for potential thunderstorms in Glasgow today.

Thunder and lightning was felt in the city yesterday evening, and we could be in for more extreme weather today, according to forecasters.

The weather warning comes into force at noon and remains in place until 10pm this evening. As a result, Glasgow could experience flooding and travel disruption, the Met Office says.

The temperature is set to peak at 21C, mid-afternoon.

Experts say there is a small chance "homes and businesses could become flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes".

The warning continues: "There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life" and "where lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services and there is a small chance that communities become cut off by flooded roads."
