Glasgow weather - Met Office warning in place for rain this Sunday

A Met Office weather warning for rain has been issued, with Glasgow and much of Scotland and England affected.

The yellow warning came into force at midnight this morning and remains in place until 6pm this evening.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) yesterday advised West Central Scotland is on flood alert.

Consequently, the Met Office warn of potential flooding and possible disruption to power supplies.

The heaviest rain is predicted to fall between midnight and 11am.

The Met Office say of the weather warning:

"Heavy rain may cause some transport disruption and flooding in places on Sunday.", while the following may be expected:

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely
  • Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
  • Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads

Monday morning also shows potential heavy rain, followed by "blustery" showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
