Glasgow weather: Met Office warning for ice remains in place as freezing temperatures continue

A weather warning for ice remains in place in Glasgow this morning as we face another day of freezing temperatures.

The city has been hit with a spate of wintry weather, including snow and ice, with multiple Met Office alerts in place.

The latest yellow warning was issued from 6pm yesterday and will remain in place until 11am this morning, with people in the affected areas warned "icy stretches may lead to some difficult driving conditions".

A statement from the Met Office continues: "Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow are expected this evening and overnight leading to a risk of icy stretches on untreated surfaces, especially where snow has been melting during the day. Further ice is possible across central Scotland as the skies clear later in the night."

The public have been told to prepare for the following:

  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
