Glasgow weather: Met Office issues yellow rain warning for parts of Scotland

The weather in Glasgow hasn't been the best recently despite those down south seeing nothing but sunshine.

And whilst it's just days away until we enter July, our weather has yet to match that if England - and it could be a while with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for parts of Scotland.

According to forecasters, the warning is set to come into force at 2am tomorrow (June 28) and last until 6pm the same day.

Taking to their website they said that "a period of heavy rain during Tuesday may lead to some minor flooding for southwest Scotland". As a result, this could lead to a flooding of a "few homes and businesses."

Glasgow will miss out on the yellow warning. (Met Office.)

In addition, they warn the public that they can expect bus and train services to be affected with journey times taking longer. They also add that spray and flooding on roads could yet again add to travel times making the journey longer.

In an update about the warning the Met Office explained: "Heavy and persistent rain accompanied by strong southerly winds will affect southwest Scotland for much of Tuesday, clearing to the east by early evening. Rainfall totals will be widely 20-30 mm, whilst high ground in the west, particularly around the Galloway Hills, could see 50-60 mm."

Whilst the yellow warning comes under the Strathclyde area, it does not cover Glasgow. However the city is still set for a dreich day tomorrow.

Forecasters have predicted that despite having sunny intervals, rain will be present throughout much of the day with highs of 15C and lows of 12C. The heaviest downpours are expected to happen between 6am and 11pm with a "fresh breeze".
