Glasgow weather: Met Office issues weather warning for heavy rain in city

A weather warning for rain has been issued in Glasgow for tomorrow.

The yellow alert is in place from 1am tomorrow and will continue through Friday until 4am on Saturday.

Glasgow is set to be hit with heavy rain for the entire of Friday. However, it is expected to clear slightly by Saturday afternoon, with sunshine and light showers predicted.

Temperatures will also be cooler, with highs of around 16 degrees.

The Met Office warning reads: "Rain, heavy at times, is expected to bring accumulations of 20 to 30 mm quite widely within the warning area, and locally as high as 60 mm on high ground. Rain will gradually ease on Friday night before clearing during Saturday morning."

The public has been warned to prepare for some localised flooding, public transport to be affected and journey times to take longer than usual.

The Met Office has issued advise to expect the following:

  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely

Welcome to July, we suppose...
