Glasgow weather: Met Office issue warning for heavy rain in Strathclyde region

Glasgow just can't seem to make up its mind when it comes to the weather this week.

The forecast is currently predicting everything from scorching temperatures of 25 degrees later this week to thunderstorms .

And now a new yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for rain in the Strathclyde region for the rest of today and through to midnight.

The forecast predicts "heavy rainfall may lead to some flooding and travel disruption".

Scattered thunderstorms may still occur, however the Met Office has announced that the heavy rainfall now poses a greater threat.

A statement from the Met Office reads: "Heavy rain is expected to affect southern Scotland from early Monday, then move northwards across central and eastern Scotland through Monday.

"In many locations 20-40mm of rain may fall in a 12-18 hour period, with peaks in excess of 80mm possible over high ground. Although some isolated thunderstorm activity is expected, the heavy rainfall aspect has now been deemed to be of greater significance."

There is a small chance of homes and businesses flooding, fast flowing or deep floodwater which could cause "danger to life" as well as a small chance of powercuts.
