Glasgow weather - latest Met Office warning for thunderstorms now in place

A Met Office weather warning for potential thunderstorms in Glasgow is now in place.

Forecasters say our city could experience thunder and lightning, today, and tomorrow, with the warning in place from 11am until 10pm this evening.

Meanwhile, a further yellow weather warning is in place tomorrow, from 11am to 10pm, again for possible thunderstorms.

And - you know the drill by now - thunder and lightning could bring potential flooding, power cuts and travel disruption, the Met Office warns.

Forecasters advise:

  • Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
