Glasgow weather: here's the forecast for TRNSMT festival as weather warnings in place this week

The biggest weekend of the year in Glasgow is within touching distance, and we know many of you are gearing up for a big one at TRNSMT 2019.

The Glasgow Green fest, now in its third year, has been blessed with glorious sunshine on previous outings - especially last year when the city enjoyed record-breaking temperatures.

But with a later this week, we’re keeping a close eye on the skies ahead of TRNSMT’s big weekend - and whether or not we’ll need to dig out those wellies.

The good news is that the Met Office warning, issued this morning, is for Thursday only - just missing the festival fun.

Thousands descend on Glasgow Green for a very sunny TRNSMT 2018 (SWNS)

The yellow alert is in place from noon until 9pm, warning of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, as well as potential flooding.

The forecast for Friday, when TRNSMT kicks off, looks a little bit brighter - although there may be some rainfall for those of you heading to see Years & Years, Gerry Cinnamon or Stormzy.

The outlook for the later half of this week reads: “Fewer showers by Friday. Feeling warm in any sunshine.”

We know - we’re crossing everything for a better forecast soon! It should be around 19C though, so not exactly a chilly one at Glasgow Green - which is something.

It gets better, however, as Saturday and Sunday look set to stay dry - for now at least - with highs of 20C. We’ll take that - anything but thunder and lightning when we’re trying to have a bit of fun in the sun.

We’ll keep an eye on the forecast throughout the week, as well as bringing you all the news and updates you need before heading to TRNSMT 2019.
