Glasgow weather: Heavy rain to hit city as temperatures plummet this week

Glasgow can expect heavy rain to hit the city today (March 3).

After battling storms and snow over the last couple of weeks, the weather in Glasgow has settled down for the most part.

But as we start to welcome feelings of Spring, heavy rain will descend on the city this evening.

From 5pm, Glaswegians can expect outbreaks of heavy rain amid overcast skies.

The Met Office adds: "Dry with bright spells during the morning. Cloud increasing in the afternoon with outbreaks of rain spreading east, North Ayrshire perhaps staying dry. Strong southeasterly winds over Kintyre and the Isles. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

"Remaining windy through the night with outbreaks of rain continuing, a few heavier spells of rain around Glasgow at times. Minimum temperature 6 °C"

Looking to Thursday, the rain will fall at the earlier time of 1pm.

This comes as temperatures are expected to drop to 5C, although the Met Office warns it could 'feel like 3C' at night.

The Met Office notes: "Cloudy on Thursday with rain and drizzle, perhaps brightening up in for the west of Argyll and Kintyre later, still quite breezy at times until later. Maximum temperature 8 °C."

The weekend is looking brighter with sunny spells and although the mornings will feel crisp. The sun is set to peep through the clouds, with the temperature expected to rise up to 8C through the day.

The Met Office forecast the weather at weekend in Glasgow reads: "A more settled spell of weather for Friday and the weekend with a lot of bright or sunny weather, mainly light winds and feeling some warmth in the sunshine."
