Glasgow weather: heavy rain alert in place today a Met Office warns of potential flooding

The Met Office has issued a heavy rain weather warning from today, predicting downpours, potential flooding and travel disruption.

The yellow alert starts at 3pm today (Sunday) and runs until midnight on Monday - meaning we’re in for a lot of rainfall over the next day and a half.

The weather warning reads: “A spell of heavy rain is expected across parts of western Scotland which may lead to some flooding and travel disruption.”

According to the latest forecast, heavy rain is expected in Glasgow by 4pm today, with showers throughout the night and into tomorrow morning.

More wet weather on its way (Media Scotland)

The rain may ease off by late afternoon on Monday - leading to a very warm and sunny day on Tuesday - and temperatures will remain muggy, with a humid 20C today and 23C tomorrow.

In short, don’t forget your brolly if you’re heading out today - and take care on the roads if you’re driving, especially during the Monday morning commute.
