Glasgow weather: Heatwave looks set to continue with ‘warmer than average’ forecast ahead

It’s been a good old run, hasn’t it Glasgow?

We know - other countries scoff when we dare to call 20 degrees for a few days running a ‘heatwave’. But we also know that it’s about as good as it gets here on the wet and windy west coast of Scotland.

Well, we have some good news on the weather front - because that burning ball in the sky looks set to stick around for another week (sort of).

Temperatures are to remain around the 20 degrees mark, according to the latest Met Office forecast, into Monday - and The Weather Channel predicts another scorching 22C day next Sunday.

Of course, it’s never plain sailing here in Glasgow, and so we can expect a bit of rain along with those sizzling temperatures, the worst of it arriving on Wednesday.

The Met Office forecast reads: “All parts will have a dry day [on Monday] and there will be some sunny spells. Still feeling quite warm.

“Dry on Tuesday, rather cloudy in the north. Rain spreading east for a time on Wednesday followed by a mainly dry day on Thursday.”

We’ll take it!

In short, keep the barbecue out - but maybe throw a cover over it come midweek.

The good news keeps on coming, with the UK long-range weather forecast predicting temperatures “warmer than average” from June 10-19 “with an increased risk of hot conditions” - although there’s the odd thunderstorm threat in the mix too.

Okay, so you can’t predict the weather to a tee anywhere, never mind in changeable Scotland.

But if this forecast goes the way we hope then you could be enjoying al fresco pints (by choice at last - hello Level 2 lockdown rules) well into next weekend.
