Glasgow weather: Heatwave continues with a sunshine scorcher weekend ahead

It's been a bit of a mixed bag weatherwise in Glasgow lately. From sunshine to showers, scorching temperatures to thunder - we don't know whether we should be buying BBQ or raincoats.

The good news is that Glasgow is in for scorcher very soon - in fact, we’re set for a whole weekend filled with brilliant weather.

According to the Met Office forecast, the city will bask in 23C heat and unbroken sunshine come Saturday - and it doesn't stop there.

Those sunshine symbols run right up until 7pm on Sunday (July 18) with a forecast for temperatures up to 24C throughout the day and plenty of sun with it.

The outlook for this week reads: “Wednesday will see a ridge of high pressure move in. It will be a dry day with extensive sunny spells throughout, with just a few patches of mist in the morning that will soon lift. Thursday will continue settled as well with spells of sunshine and patchy cloud. Friday will see dry weather continue, but it could be a slightly cloudier day."

And come Saturday it's time to head straight to the seaside! Lap on that SPF and hunt down the nearest ice cream van, summer has finally arrived.

As for those who plan to stay in the city, we have no doubt Glasgow’s sun worshippers will pack out the city’s best beer gardens this weekend.

We’re officially renaming it Glasgow del Sol - and long may our rare summer sunshine continue!
