Glasgow weather: Forecasters predict heavy overnight snow amid Met Office warning

Forecasters predict Glasgow is to be blanketed in snow overnight as the wintry weather continues to grip our city.

As we reported earlier, the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for ice for much of Scotland, including our city, due to come into force at 6pm this evening which will remain in place until 11am tomorrow morning. Temperatures are expected to fall to as low as 2C in Glasgow, however it could feel as cold as -2 early on Monday.

Yet the BBC forecast heavy snow will fall on our city from 8pm tonight until around 7am in the morning.

The weather is likely to lead to hazardous driving conditions and Traffic Scotland have confirmed the gritters are out in force in a bid to mitigate the icy conditions.

The cold snap greeted Glasgow over the New Year and has stayed around for the weekend, leading to the city's lochs and ponds freezing over.

Dozens have flocked to Queen's Park to ice skate on the famous duck pond, while yesterday, we reported on fire crews having to rescue a stricken swan stranded in the frozen Hogganfield Loch.
