Glasgow weather: Freezing Easter weekend ahead as the rest of the UK enjoys heatwave

Glasgow is set for freezing conditions next week according to the latest weather forecast.

The Met Office predicts temperatures will fall to as low as -1C overnight on Sunday and Monday and remain around the 0C mark in the following days.

These icy conditions will follow a spell on sunshine in the city, due to start today (Thursday) and last until Saturday, before expected heavy rain showers on Sunday.

Furthermore, the BBC suggest we could even witness more hail showers in the coming week, with wintry showers forecast for next Thursday.

Ahead of the upcoming cold snap, the Met Office - predicting conditions for the Strathclyde region - say: "Saturday dry and bright. Sunday brings strong to gale winds, a band of rain crossing from north, clearing to showers, these wintry to all levels late Sunday and through Monday.

The unexpected wintry weather could lead to hazardous driving conditions and for pedestrians on pavements and walkways.
