Glasgow weather forecast for week ahead as city temperatures soar higher than Lisbon

Glasgow is set to bask in the sunshine and temperatures hotter than Lisbon this week.

Over the weekend, Glaswegians made the most of the weather by descending on our city's beautiful parks, lighting up BBQs and taking in the rays.

We're in the midst of a 'mini-heatwave' and the good news is the warm weather is set to continue.

The Met Office predicts we'll witness temperatures of 22C degrees today, with 24C on Tuesday, a good couple of degrees higher than what's expected in the Portuguese capital.

It'll be similarly hot in Glasgow on Wednesday, with the mercury set to hit 23C.

However, forecasters warn it will cool down later in the week, but we'll still get to enjoy top temperatures of around 18 or 19c into the weekend.

Here's what the Met Office forecast for the week ahead in the Strathclyde region:

Today:

It with be a dry and mainly sunny day and warm or very warm. Winds will be mostly light, but brisk southeasterly winds can be expected across Kintyre and Islay. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

A fine end to the day with mainly sunny then clear skies. A mild night and breezy around some coasts. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

It will be another mainly sunny and warm or very warm day. Winds mostly light, but perhaps fresher at times around the coast. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Mainly sunny and warm or very warm on Wednesday. Still plenty of dry and bright weather on Thursday and Friday, but showery rain possible.

The Met Office also warn of high UV index ratings, so, although it may be 'taps aff' weather, make sure you splash on that sun cream.

Enjoy, Glasgow!
