Glasgow weather: Flooding warning for Glasgow as 'persistent' heavy rain hits west of Scotland

Flooding warnings have been issued across Greater Glasgow as "persistent" heavy rain and strong winds lash the west of Scotland.

A Met Office yellow alert is in place until 11am tomorrow across the Strathclyde region, with rainfall accumulations between 15-30mm expected quite widely across the warning area and 40mm on higher ground.

A yellow warning for strong south to south-westerly winds is also in force for Glasgow and the west until 6pm, with gusts estimated to reach between 50-60 mph at times through today.

Meanwhile, a separate amber alert is in place for South Lanarkshire between noon today and 6am tomorrow, where some places could see 60-80mm in a 24 hour period.

Drier conditions will arrive from the west on Wednesday morning, with a maximum temperature of around 10C.
