Glasgow weather: Flood warning in place as temperature dips and snow heads in

A flood warning has been issued by the Met Office as the wet and snowy weather is set to worsen over the weekend.

Two yellow 'be aware' warnings are also in place.

Today there is expected to be rain and snow which will be 'briefly heavy', with maximum temperatures of 6 degrees and brisk winds.

Traffic Scotland has advised motorists to use alternative routes as multiple lanes along the M74 and A74 have been closed off due to harsh weather elements.

Commuters coming along the M74 northbound at Junction 5 and Junction 4 have been warned to take care on approach after a road traffic collision earlier this morning.

Train services between Motherwell and Cumbernauld have also been delayed as engineers were earlier called to fix a failure at Mossend.

Tonight temperatures will dip to three degrees.

Saturday is to look slightly warmer with a maximum temperature of 7 degrees and only some occasional showers, but Sunday to Tuesday will see overnight frost and freezing fog.

Traffic Scotland have issued warnings about safe driving, reminding drivers to have their car prepared for bad weather.
