Glasgow weather: Exactly when thunderstorms are set to hit city today according to Met Office

The sunshine and scorching temperatures we enjoyed last week are officially behind us it seems, with a series of severe weather warnings issued for Glasgow and the wider Strathclyde area over the weekend.

Unfortunately that includes today, with the Met Office forecast predicting a long day of stormy weather ahead for us.

As we reported yesterday, we could be set for up to eight hours of thunderstorms here in the city, alongside some strange spells of sunshine in between the thunder and lightning.

Temperatures are also set to hover around the 21C mark - so prepare for some seriously humid and clammy weather.

According to the forecast, after a cloudy start and some bright or sunny intervals, scattered showers could become heavy and thundery from 11am onwards.

The chance of thunderstorms is predicted to continue right through to around 7pm this evening, as the chance of precipitation moves between the 60% and 70% mark.

For tonight, the Met Office prediction reads: "Heavy showers becoming less widespread through this evening. Then the rest of the night will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers, still heavy in places. Warm and humid. Minimum temperature 14 °C."
