Glasgow weather: Exact time thundersnow is expected on Wednesday and Thursday

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning for snow and lightning in place in Glasgow for Wednesday and Thursday.

The warning will come into effect at 5pm on Wednesday and will end at 8pm on Thursday.

According to the forecaster, "frequent heavy snow showers are expected, along with very gusty winds and a chance of frequent lightning affecting some places".

It states that there is a "small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected", as well as a "slight chance that power cuts may occur".

Moving into early Thursday morning, temperatures will also drop to 1C, and will remain there until around 11am — with a chance of thunder according to the Met Office.

Things will warm up by midday, with the snow beginning to turn to sleet as temperatures rise slightly to a peak of 3C.

The Met Office states it will be "cold with snow showers continuing through the morning, perhaps becoming heavy, thundery and persistent at times with accumulations possible to low levels, before turning more sleety later".
