A spokesperson said: “Very high temperatures will exceed 35C in many parts of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. It may reach 40C to 42C in parts of the south and Ebro, with very warm nights. It will be a truly unusual episode for the time.”

So whilst Spain is set to see the sun all week, what can we expect here in Glasgow for those of us not going to see the footie abroad?

According to weather forecasters, Thursday (May 19) is the only day where the sun is set to come out and warm the city up.

On that day, temperatures will reach 17C, peaking at around 2pm and 5pm.

The weather update comes as last night saw a down pour of rain with strong winds in some areas in and around Glasgow.

In addition to this, there is a Met Office yellow weather warning in place for Thunder today and tomorrow however this will only affect England.
