Glasgow, get those sunnies out - we’re in for a mini heatwave over the next few days.
We’ve been crossing our fingers all week at the promise of a ‘Spanish plume’ and temperatures exceeding 20 degrees here in the city.
And while it’s not exactly a heatwave in the eyes of the rest of the world, here in Glasgow, in September, we’ll take it.
The latest Met Office forecast shows early morning fog burning away early today (Friday), leaving us with a “very warm” day of unbroken sunshine and a maximum temperature of around 22C.
And there’s more good news - because that forecast looks set to continue into the weekend, with the outlook for Saturday looking just as rosy - although Sunday and Monday could bring us back to reality.
The forecast for Saturday reads: “It will remain dry with long spells of unbroken sunshine through the day, just a little patchy cloud in the far west later where it will stay windy. Very warm. Maximum temperature 23 °C.
For Sunday and Monday, it adds: "Still some bright warm weather on Sunday but cloudier at times with some heavy showers. Monday mostly dry and bright. Rain followed by sunshine and heavy showers on Tuesday."
In short, you’ll want to dig out the shorts you’ve packed away for autumn and get to a beer garden while it all lasts. We can see Glasgow being one big party town this weekend, if this weather keeps up …
