Glasgow weather: City set for thunder and lightning as UK gets second heatwave

The weather in Glasgow this week has been pretty good and for the most part, it's stayed pretty dry.

Despite the downpour during last weekend, this weekend is set to be a little better with the Met Office and BBC predicting little rain in comparison.

But looking further ahead, the weather for Glasgow isn't looking great next month with thunder and lightning predicted.

Around the end of the month, the thunder and lightning is expected to hit the city on August 22. This is according to AccuWeather who say people should expect it throughout the day.

In the afternoon they state it will remain "cloudy" for much of the day followed by morning showers. After this a couple of showers and a thunderstorm is set for the afternoon.

Then in the evening, more showers and a thunderstorm is expected. The forecasters added that it is otherwise a dry and "partly cloudy" night.

Across the whole of the day, five hours of rain is predicted. But what about the weather for this week? Here's what the Met Office says:

Met Office: Glasgow's five day weather forecast

Today

Bright spells and a few scattered showers during the morning. The showers will die away in the afternoon with long bright or sunny spells for most. Southerly winds freshening across Kintyre and the Isles. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight
