Glasgow weather: City set for be bathed in sunshine and highs of 24C this weekend

Good news folks, the brollies and cagoules can get firmly shoved away in the drawer or wardrobe as Glasgow looks set to be bathed in sunshine and warm temperatures this coming weekend.

Following on from some cracking weather over the past few days, and last night's stunning sunset, temperatures are forecast to reach highs of 24C in the Strathclyde area.

A Met Office forecast for Friday reads: "Early mist will soon burn off to leave a warm and sunny day. Some low cloud will spread west through the Central Belt in the evening.

"Maximum temperature 24 °C."

And for Saturday and Sunday they note: "Dry and warm on Saturday with best of the sunshine in the west. Cloudier with a few showers on Sunday and Monday."

News of the good weather forecast has led Glasgow City Council to confirm that they are planning to again lock gates at Kelvingrove Park at the weekend in an attempt to curb anti-social behaviour.

They note: "At this stage, the weather forecast is indicating a hot spell over the coming weekend and it is anticipated that ten out of sixteen gates will be locked on Saturday and Sunday".
