Glasgow weather: city on flood alert amid warning for Pollok Park with heavy rain forecast

Glasgow is on flood alert for the second consecutive day with the city already having been soaked in the past 24 hours.

Although the Met Office yellow weather warning for rain ended just before midnight last night, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) have advised West Central Scotland is on flood alert with more heavy rain expected throughout Wednesday.

Meanwhile, SEPA have issued a specific warning for Pollok Park in the south side of Glasgow.

They say: "After a period of prolonged rainfall today flooding in and around the Police dog compound at Pollock Country Park, The Sawmill at Pollock House, Pollock Estates, and Castle Golf Course is possible. River levels look set to stay high throughout the rest of the day."

After a fairly dry start to the day, the heavy rain is set to start falling around lunchtime and will continue to do so until the middle of the evening, according to the Met Office.

Yesterday's downpour resulted in widespread disruption for road and rail users across Glasgow, with several Scotrail services affected.
