Glasgow weather: city on flood alert amid heavy rain

Glasgow is on flood alert today amid heavy overnight rain continuing into this morning.

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) confirmed the warning is in place for many parts of the country, including west central Scotland.

The Met Office forecast for Friday predicts the rain is set to continue falling throughout the day and into the early hours of Saturday morning.

The wet weather comes after a sustained period of wintry conditions which brought freezing temperatures and snow to the city. However, temperatures have risen this week, regularly reaching double figures.

SEPA advise: "A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for West Central Scotland.

"Heavy rain is forecast to affect the area on Friday. This will bring a risk of flooding to individual properties, low lying land and roads from rivers and surface water. Further rainfall on Saturday will give a continuing risk."
