Glasgow weather as July heatwave forecast set to warm up Scotland

If you can believe it, it's now July and although we're well into summer now with many now off for the holidays, it feels as though this year is going by a little too fast.

And with the summer months comes the summer weather bringing with it more sun than rain - or at least we hope this is what happens.

According to weather forecasters, whilst Glasgow is to remain it's usual self staying mainly dry with a few spells of rain here and there, Scotland as a whole is in for a potential summer heatwave this month.

In a tweet by the Met Office, the experts have said that a "jet stream" will bring in fresh Atlantic air across the UK. This means it will likely result in better weather for not just us but other parts of Europe too.

Although experts say much of the hot air is isolated to the likes of Italy, making this great news to those going there on holiday, it could soon make it's way to Glasgow later on in the week.

According to the Met Office, they define a heatwave as “an extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year.”

There are currently no Met Office weather warnings in place for the UK with their long-range forecast fro July 5 until July 14 reading: "Tuesday is likely to be a dry day for many, although outbreaks of rain are possible in western areas, with strong winds in the northwest.

"Sunny spells most likely in the south. A good deal of dry and settled weather likely for Wednesday and Thursday, especially across the south and southwest. Some showers possible in the north, most frequently in northwest Scotland.

"A low risk of more organised spells of rain affecting the far north at times. This generally settled regime persists for much of the remainder of the period, although occasional spells of more organised cloud and rain may continue to affect northern parts at times. Temperatures most likely near normal at first, but gradually becoming warmer through the period - especially in the south and southwest."
