Glasgow Warriors star Sam Johnson admits Rangers fan party has him dreaming of full stadiums

Sam Johnson lives next door to Filip Helander - not that the Rangers defender would know anything about it.

The Glasgow Warriors star has, by his own admission, jumped on the Rangers bandwagon because his partner and her parents are huge supporters of the club.

And he revealed he lives next door to the Swedish defender, but has been too scared to congratulate him on the success the club have had this season.

The Australian-born Scotland centre is preparing for Sunday's clash with Ireland in the Six Nations but has been watching footage of Rangers fans celebrating their title win.

He admits that has given him a buzz for when supporters are eventually allowed back into the stadium when lockdown restrictions begin to be lifted.

He said: "My partner and her parents are season-ticket holders at Rangers and big Rangers supporters. I jumped on the bandwagon too.

"I actually live next door to (Rangers defender) Filip Helander but I'm a bit too scared to say hello and well done. I'd say that I'm more of a bandwagon supporter than anything else.

"When it's legal and appropriate to do so it would be nice to get back to that sort of thing (with fans cheering us on).

"I suppose they are getting a bit of stick from the government which is not for me to comment on.

"But hopefully soon we can get back to having fans in the stadium soon and enjoy rugby a lot more.

"There's no better feeling. I actually think to an extent the adrenalin you get from having fans in the stadium affects performance.

"It's hard to do that, build that artificial energy that you hear on the pitch, so the quicker the fans can come back the better."
