Glasgow voted best city in the UK for millennials to live in

Glasgow has been named the best place to live if you are a millennial.

That's right, our fair city ticks all the right boxes for young adults looking to make a start in life.

Glasgow soared into first place out of the UK's 63 cities thanks to decent weekly wages, innumerable entertainment hotspots, and house prices well below the national average.

To rank the UK’s 63 cities, credit experts Totally Money, looked at what’s really important to Generation Y. What work opportunities are available? Is there a fair cost of living? What are property prices like? And what fun stuff is there to do?

And it turns out Glasgow is the best. (And who are we to argue with them?)

Millennials who want it all should head to Glasgow. Named a UNESCO City of Music in 2008, there’s no shortage of entertainment and festivals. But what’ll really have Millennials humming a happy tune is the price to buy a home. A one-bed property is £90,466, putting it well below the national average.

Despite its reputation for eye-wateringly high living costs and house prices way above the national average, London still performs well at second place.

The capital isn’t shy of things for millennials to do, but also boasts the highest weekly earnings at £727 per week — as well as the highest number of graduate hires — across the whole UK.

In third place is Aberdeen, which sees Scotland take two positions in the top three. Its employment rates are the same as London’s, has higher-than-average weekly earnings, and average property prices of just £84,584.

What do you think? Is Glasgow a Millennial hotspot?
