Glasgow viral Christmas tree dancer returns to streets to spread some festive cheer

Around the time last year a hilarious video of a Christmas tree dancer busting some moves along a Glasgow street helped spread some much needed festive cheer.

The viral video, which racked up over 1m views on Twitter, was taken by a member of the public from a window on the south side, and was accompanied by the (perfect) soundtrack of 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses.

And as we count down the days till Santa's arrival, the good news is that the dancing Christmas tree has once again been spotted on the streets to get people laughing - and dancing along.

The woman in the costume is dance artist and community activist Kate E Deeming, who has become something of a local 'legend' in the south side of the city.

Kate is back dancing on the streets in aid of local schoolchildren, and is aiming to raise £5,000 to be put towards fun afterschool activities for kids in her local Pollokshields.

She's set a goal of dancing 100km along the streets in a week - after dancing 60km last year. By the end of today (December 15), Kate hopes to have covered 50km - spurred on as she has been by plenty of locals and the 'horn toots' from passing cars.

So far Kate has raised over £500 towards the £5,000 goal. You can donate to Kate's fundraiser here
