Glasgow vigil to be held in memory of Irish journalist Lyra McKee

A vigil will be held in Glasgow in memory of Irish journalist Lyra McKee who was killed in Derry.

The funeral for the 29-year-old journalist will be held in Belfast on Wednesday at 1pm.

And at the same time journalists and members of the public will gather on Buchanan Street steps to stand together with her family, friends and those who knew her.

The journalist and published author died after she was shot in the head by a member of the New IRA during a Londonderry riot.

Everyone is welcome and are asked to bring a candle, Pride flags and banner.

The event is being organised by NUJ (National Union of Journalist) Glasgow branch. If anyone can't attend you are being asked wherever you are, with others or alone -  to commemorate Lyra by holding up a sign with the slogan 'We Stand With Lyra' and share a photo with the hashtag #WeStandWithLyra.
