Glasgow venues scoop prizes in first ever Scottish Virtual Restaurant Awards

Three Glasgow food spots are celebrating success after scooping prizes in the first ever Scottish Virtual Restaurant Awards.

1051 GWR won the title of Best of Glasgow, while the Battlefield Rest won the Lockdown Team of The Year award.

Meanwhile, The Roll Shop in Polmadie earned the Frontline Support Food Hero prize.

The awards recognise the contribution restaurants have made by continuing to operate during lockdown.

Each restaurant had been nominated and voted for by members of the public.

Although they have been prohibited from welcoming diners to their premises, they have continued to engage with their communities by providing takeaways, deliveries and support for frontline NHS staff.

After the Battlefield Rest heard about their victory, they commented on Facebook to say: "There are no words to describe our happiness and we are so proud of our team".

Congratulations to our city's winners from us here at Glasgow Live!
