Glasgow Uni searching for owner of runaway hamster found eating chips on street

Glasgow University has a new recruit - and they're cute, fluffy and just a little bit twitchy.

The university's Twitter account revealed their new temporary hamster pal - and have set out to reunite them with their owner.

The escapee was discovered on Gibson Street by the School of Life Sciences by zoology colleagues on Thursday morning.

He (or she) was found digging into some chips that had fallen onto the street before being taken in by the university.

Although their friendly new colleague seems to be getting along just fine, the university are hoping the owner of the fluffy new arrival will see their appeal and be reunited with their runaway pet

A tweet from the university reads: "Have you lost a hamster recently near @GUUnion? This sweet wee guy was found on Gibson Street by @UofGSoLS Zoology colleagues on Thursday morning, nibbling on some chips. Let us know if you can help us reunite this hamster with their owner."

So if you happen to know who the owner of this adorable wee hamster is - or if it belongs to you - then be sure to get in touch with the university!
