Glasgow trains disrupted by emergency incident at Carntyne station

Glasgow trains have been disrupted this evening by an emergency incident at Carntyne station.

ScotRail alerted rail users about the incident around 6pm as emergency services descended on the scene.

Services between Milngavie and Cumbernauld via Motherwell were affected as a result.

They tweeted: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Carntyne the line towards Glasgow is closed. Our services between Milngavie and Cumbernauld via Motherwell will be delayed or revised."

Trains were then able to run through Carntyne after the incident was brought to a close, although Network Rail Scotland warned of subsequent disruption to services as a result.

Trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Airdrie have been subject to possible cancellation or delays as normal service resumes.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Carntyne railway station, Glasgow, at 5.43pm today (August 30) following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

"Officers attended, and the woman has been taken to a place of safety.
