Glasgow trains disrupted amid reports of a vehicle striking a bridge

Train services from Glasgow Central to East Kilbride have been disrupted following reports of a vehicle striking a bridge.

The accident is reported to have taken place at a railway bridge between Clarkston and Busby.

ScotRail have confirmed that services are currently suspended on the line while an examination takes place of the structure.

They confirmed news of the accident in a tweet which read: "We've had reports of a vehicle striking a bridge between Clarkston and Busby.

"The bridge is a red structure so will need to be examined by our staff before services can pass over the bridge again."

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
