Glasgow traffic disruption as accident on M8 motorway prompts two lane closure

Drivers in Glasgow heading to work have been met with disruption to their journeys this morning after an accident on the M8 motorway.

The accident has forced a two-lane closure of the M8 eastbound between Junction 15 (Townhead) and Junction 16 (Canal Street/Craighall).

Traffic information site INRIX first issued an alert around 4:45am this morning, writing: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M8 Eastbound at J16 Canal Street (Craighall). Lanes three and four (of four) are closed."

Congestion is being reported back to J22 (M77 Interchange), with delays also for drivers on the M8 Westbound.

Traffic Scotland issued an alert to drivers about the accident at 6am this morning via Twitter.

They tweeted: M8 RTC. Lanes 3 & 4 are closed E/B at J15 due to an RTC Traffic is queuing on approach."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
