Glasgow to welcome new Thai restaurant Panang from team behind Chaakoo and Topolabamba

Foodies in Glasgow will soon be able to receive more bang for their bhat with the opening of new Thai restaurant Panang in the city centre next month.

Operated by the team behind Chaakoo and Topolabamba, Panang will take over the former Mezzedakia on St Vincent Street, slap bang in the middle of the thriving shopping and central business district.

Entrepreneur/owner Paul Sloan and team have taken inspiration and authenticity from South Eastern Asia, integrating menu offerings such as ‘sunshine beef’ which sings happiness in a bowl, and ‘son in law eggs’ – one to google for the true meaning.

Speaking about the new restaurant, Paul Sloan said: "I wanted to take everyone on a trip out of Bangkok to explore the four regions and the cuisine. We’ve integrated hot, sweet, salty and sour as core flavours, and can’t wait for our customers to try the menu, and signature cocktails.

"The aim is for people to have fun, and bring back the zest and vibrancy Glasgow has sorely missed during the pandemic."

The scheduled opening for the restaurant is mid-June following government guidelines.
