Glasgow to expect bitterly cold days and sleet as sub zero temperatures chill city

Glasgow is to face some bitterly cold days ahead as temperatures are set to drop to below zero this week.

According to weather forecasters, temperatures in the city will drop to -1C on Wednesday (January 5) amid reports of expected sleet on Thursday and Friday the following day.

Temperatures throughout this week will average at around 2C on the lower scale whilst highs remain around 6C.

The Met Office have said that today will remain dull throughout with cloudy skies and patchy rain in places. Longer spells of rain will then move in from the north which may turn wintry on the highest ground.

Later on this evening, Glasgow will see any remaining rain and cloud clearing southwards as it turns dry and clear for the rest of the night.

Today lows of just 0C are expected whilst highs will reach 8C - the highest this week.

There is currently a yellow weather warning set in place for parts of northern Scotland for ice, wind and snow from today until Wednesday.

The Met Office warn that "very strong winds" are expected to bring disruption during this week whilst frequent snow showers and icy stretches will cause disruption to the roads as they urge motorists to be cautious.

Thankfully at present, Glasgow will miss out on this.
