Glasgow to Edinburgh train disruption continues in run-up to rush hour

Disruption is continuing on trains running between Glasgow Queen Street Station and Edinburgh, on account of flooding.

This morning, several trains were delayed due to high water levels in the Winchburgh Tunnel, between Edinburgh and Linlithgow.

Network Rail have this afternoon advised the water levels have dropped, however the ScotRail service checker confirms 'minor disruption' is still in place.

Network Rail say: "Positive news from Winchburgh. Water level has dropped to a point where we can reintroduce services without speed restriction – though a residual signalling issue will slow progress slightly. Trains will be reintroduced gradually so please follow ScotRail for latest updates."

ScotRail have added: "It’s an improving picture at Winchburgh, with water levels dropping further. This means the speed restriction has been lifted. Flooding is causing a signal fault, which means trains will be delayed slightly through the area though.

"UPDATE: The signalling fault has now cleared too. We’ll restore the normal timetable in a controlled manner, to prevent further disruption. A number of our trains and crews have been left out of position – which we’re working to sort out now."

For the latest on train services, please follow ScotRail across its social media accounts.
