Glasgow to be hit by hail showers next week as winter weather continues to chill city

Much of Glasgow and other parts of the country have had a mixed bag when it comes to weather lately.

From snow to sun, rain and strong gales of up to 90mph during Storm Arwen, the country has been bracing for this bad weather for a while - and it comes as no shock living in Scotland.

Currently, there is still a yellow weather warning in place for parts of the country including Inverness and Aberdeen - as well as Newcastle and Bath further south of the border.

However Glasgow will thankfully miss this.

However, despite no weather warning for the city, we are still expecting some chilly winter conditions - though previous predictions of snow having been removed leaving no days of snow compared to the previous five.

The Met Office have said that, this week, temperatures will average 3C on the low side and 6C on the higher side and despite these remaining average over the next week, we are still to be hit by hail showers.

These are set to hit Glasgow on Tuesday (December 7) from 3pm until 6pm with the rest of the day set for heavy rain.

Looking at the weather forecast for Glasgow, the BBC Weather said: "A cold start to Monday with overnight frost and ice possible. Cloud increasing from the west through the day with outbreaks of rain, possibly wintry down to low levels at times in the north and east of the UK.

"Likely turning windier during the day with strong winds most likely in the west. For the rest of the period, unsettled weather dominates with spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed by interludes of sunshine and showers.

"More prolonged spells of rain are possible, heavy at times. Initially these more likely across the south and west, although the greatest risk probably transfers north through the period, which could then see rain turning wintry at times. Generally cold, with milder interludes briefly in the south. Overnight frost and icy patches likely throughout."
