Glasgow weather: TK Maxx ceiling 'collapses' as dramatic video clip shows rain pouring into shop

A Glasgow shopper has filmed the moment yesterday's torrential rain came through the ceiling of TK Maxx on Sauchiehall Street in the city centre.

Joanna McDonough filmed the video praising staff after being evacuated from the store, saying that later the 'ceiling collapsed'.

The shop didn't fare well during the flash floods of yesterday, with the video showing customers leaving the shop up the escalators as rain water poured in the vaulted ceiling, directly on the clothes, soaps and electricals of the popular branch.

The floor was soaked as the water pooled the underground shop floor, and items could be seen floating on the surface.

Joanna said: "Well done @TKMaxx_UK Glasgow for the speedy evacuation of the customers following torrential rain and a ceiling collapse! Quite scary!"

Yesterday, people were evacuated from their homes in Drumchapel as a number of buildings flooded.

Businesses across the city were forced to close due to the flash floods, and footage showed forked lightning filmed hitting the city.
