Glasgow Thornwood crash sees man, 30, pronounced dead at the scene

A young man has died after losing control of his car and crashing in the early hours of the morning.

The 30-year-old man was driving a Mercedes GLC at Thornwood roundabout near Dumbarton Road around 1.10am on Saturday morning when the incident unfolded.

Detectives said it appears that the vehicle lost control and left the roadway. Emergency services rushed to the scene but the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A large police cordon was erected from Dumbarton Road and onto Broomhill Drive to allow ongoing inquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or could have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Paul Mellis said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died following this crash.

“Our investigation is ongoing and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact us.

"I would also be keen to obtain and dash-cam from motorists who were driving on this road around the time of the crash. Information can be passed to 101 with reference number 0221 of 8 October.”
